1: Welcome To My Journey From Side Hustle To Full Time Web Designer
Welcome to the Side Hustle to Full-Time Web Designer podcast. I’m a corporate professional by day and side hustling web designer by night. I’m inviting you to come alongside me as I take my web design side hustle full time. I’ll share the highs, lows, lessons learned, resources, and strategies I learn to help you do the same. Together we’ll go from side hustle to full-time web designer.
What’s up everybody? This is Keegan, you know me, you’ve heard my voice before. But this is a little bit different. Welcome, first off to the new format podcast, this is all about taking a side hustle and going full time. So that’s been my goal for a long time now, for a number of years. But it’s something that I’m really super dead set on. I’m laser focused on what that’s going to look like. And I really wanted to put it out in the world, I wanted to share that with each and every one of you want to put it out into the cosmos, and a lot of that truly for accountability. I want you to help me continue to grow and push forward and allow me to help you by sharing that journey.
So you know, ask myself this question it’s the really important question of why go full time. And you know, really, it’s, it’s very similar to what it’s always been. And that’s to have my creative outlet, I want to be able to learn and grow and do those kinds of things. But it’s shifted throughout the years, I’ve really got this hunger to help people, business owners who have been taken over by or taken advantage of by flaky web designers. And there’s so many good web designers out there. But I want to help be a part of changing the reputation. You know, I don’t want to be that company that disappears, that just build your site, and then it’s gone. Poof, disappears, like black Batman and a black Batman in a I want to leave this in because it’s hilarious. Like that man in that ball of smoke. That’s what I was trying to say.
I really have a passion to teach, I want to I want to show people what I learn. I want to work side by side with people who are passionate, and really have this hunger to just learn and to get better and to maximize the potential in life. And really the other part that intrigues me obviously, is limitless income, I’m only limited by my creativity, how big of a, or how good of a system, I can build how big of a network I can build, all of those things play a part into it, obviously. And I could make 10 grand a year and be be struggling or I can make, you know, I don’t know, $200,000 in a year if I wanted or more. So that’s just where the challenge is exciting.
The other big piece is location independence, my wife and I, we’ve talked for years about moving about living up closer to some of our friends in New England, we’ve talked about moving close to Orlando, so we can be annual passholders at Disney and universal and do those things. But you know, with all that sounds amazing. But with that comes real struggles, right? You know, we’ve talked about not necessarily making a lot of money, and that comes from, you know, the Will I be able to pay my bills? Am I getting enough work? Is there enough people interested in working with me? Am I good enough? You know, should I even be doing it? I know the answer to that one’s Yes, I know that I’m good enough. And I know that with enough focus and effort and the right system, I can get enough work. And I’ll have no problems paying my bills. But those are real, real struggles.
And then when is the right time? That’s the that is the number one question that lingers in my head is when is the time to make that change? And then moving forward? You know, really, what are you going to be able to expect here because that’s what this is all about. You’re listening to this because you either want to be entertained, or you want to be educated. And honestly, you know, the little flub I had earlier hopefully that was a little bit entertaining. And my goal is always to educate. And so as we move forward, I want to really be vulnerable here. Be wide open, tell you the good, the bad, the ugly, the lessons learned the business tips that I’ve that I’ve figured out, the major wins the losses too, you know, that’s part of the vulnerability.
