In this week’s episode, we’re gonna give you three tips to look like a digital professional.
Keegan 0:22
What’s up everybody welcome to another episode of the Divi addicts podcast. And before we get into this week’s topic, I’m super excited, you guys have heard me talk about it for a while, you know, if you’ve been listening to us for the last year or so you’re in half, you know, in 2019, one of the goals that I had was to launch a course, it didn’t happen, life got in the way projects and business got in the way. And when 2020 rolled around, I made it the number one priority like it was it was the top of my list, I had to get this course out. It was it was something I was just dedicated to doing right. And so the time has come, the work is done, the course is live as of July 1 2020, the Divi foundation course, is officially live.
Keegan 1:10
So what that means for you, if you’re listening to this, and you’ve been kind of on the fence is web development, something I want to do do I want to take the road of doing a side hustle, making a little bit of cash. And you know, would that change my situation, maybe it will maybe that’s you, I can tell you this year is probably when the last couple of over the last month and a half has probably been the highest grossing volume of my side hustle career, I’ve put almost $7,000 in real deal money into the business bank account, just over the last probably six weeks. And that’s 100% side hustle and due to the full time job. So let’s say that to say like, This course will help you along in the journey. And it’s a collection of things. And systems that I found to work really, really, really well.
Keegan 2:04
You don’t have to worry about going through all of the headache of trying a host that doesn’t work out well. I found the ones that work that work extremely well. And trust me when I tell you that people will pay 30-$35-40-$50 a month for maintenance support and hosting, it’s not a problem, they will absolutely do it. So I say all that to say the course is launched it’s $89 right now. And if you’re interested in it, go to the academy that will link in the show notes, it’s Academy. Keegan Lanier media.com
Keegan 2:37
You can sign up, enroll in the course, it’s 15 videos, you can get through it pretty quick, usually in about two weeks. And then you’ll you’ll be set it’ll take you all the way through connecting, you know from from finding your domain all the way to connecting your website to Google in the end so that people can find you. It’s a great starting point. And I think you’re really going to get a lot out of it. And that’s just I’m super excited to say that we’ve officially launched it. So without any further ado, I’m gonna stop rambling, we’re gonna get into those three steps to look like a true digital professional.
Keegan 3:13
So again, you know, we’re talking about the steps to look like a true digital professional. And, you know, I’ve tried to play the part of faking it, fake it till I made it. I’ve done a lot of research, I spent countless hours over the last five or six years, trying to figure out what it is to actually be a digital professional, and how to look like one talk, the talk, walk the walk that whole thing. So you know, it’s taken a lot of time, there’s been a lot of times where I’ve fallen on my face and had to get back up and, you know, maybe made some mistakes along the way. That’s what I’m hoping to help you avoid here you can see there’s a theme in this episode, whether it’s the course announcement at the beginning and helping you avoid some pitfalls, or, or this right here, my job here and what I’m trying to do, or at least my goal is to help you take some of the shortcuts, you know, don’t make some of the mistakes that I made along the way over five years. If you can do what I did in five years in a year, I feel like a success.
Keegan 4:07
So the first tip number one on this list is consistent branding, you know, go to Fiverr go to a friend of yours who if you don’t have a ton of money, go to a friend who might do graphic design and ask them you know, maybe you can trade maybe you can ask them for a favor this time and say, you know, would you doubt I mean, would you design some sort of a logo for me, tell me the fonts that you use. Now I can go buy those fonts if we need, whatever the case may be. Get consistent branding, the font on your website, the colors that you use on all your social media, the sizes and styles, the voice of your brand, find a consistent branding and that voice your brand could just be you. You know it could be the way you look at life. That’s perfectly fine. But that’s number one on this list is to go and find and develop consistent branding. That will serve you so well as you continue down the road. And there’s journey.
Keegan 5:05
And number two is to show up consistently. Decide who your audience is. You guys are people who are interested in building websites or people who are currently building websites with Divi, you know, that’s the audience. That’s who I’m talking to here, I want to save you, again from making the mistakes that I did, because I made plenty show up consistently. That’s number two, you guys have been here listening to this podcast, you know that this has been unbelievably consistent.
Keegan 5:34
You know, we tried a few different formats we’ve gone every week release, we have gone to season releases where we did like 10 or so episodes in a package to see if people were interested in bingeing the episodes. We did that last year at some point, I think. And what I found is consistently good growth. by releasing episodes every week, it keeps it Top of Mind, it keeps you with a fresh stream of content without having too much to have to try and digest or pick your favorites or, you know, time is time is precious. So I’ll also try and keep these things pretty short, or short as I can. But that’s number two show up consistently. So we’ve got consistent branding, number one, and then we’re going to show up consistently on a regular schedule. That’s number two.
Keegan 6:17
The third and final topic is is know what you’re talking about, know the topic and be an expert, you cannot BS people, you’ve got to know what you’re talking about. I feel like the hours I put into Divi, and coding and CSS, and manipulating Divi to my will, has really made me know my topic, I feel like there’s very few things that could happen or be done inside of Divi that I don’t know about. Now, there are people who are way more skilled than me, there are people who can do crazier things with code and web design than me. But I know the product, I know what I’m using, I know my platform, and how can get what my clients need through that product. And that’s the key. Know the topic you’re talking about in relation to what the people need, who you’re serving.
Keegan 7:09
So again, you know, to recap the whole thing number one, consistent branding, look, feel sound, smell, talk all the same. Show up consistently be there on a regular schedule for your people, for your target audience, audience, excuse me. And the third one is know the topic that you’re talking about, learn it inside and out, be a student of the game, you can’t be a coach, if you don’t know how to run the business you’re coaching. So be in it, understand it and show up consistently. And that puts a bow on this. That’s the end of this episode. Those are the three tips and the three steps you need to take to look like a true digital professional.
Keegan 7:49
So thank you, thank you, thank you for being here. Again, we say it every single week. We appreciate you. We hope that you’re subscribed to this podcast. And if there’s anybody out there, you know who’s unhappy in their job, who’s looking for alternative or even supplemental income, web developments a great space for it. If you have a creative bone in your body. The time is now you can go out there you can make money again, I’m not saying just to be like, Hey, I just line my pockets. But I did invoiced and collected over $6,000 in the last six weeks, I think it might be 7000 in the last six weeks. It’s doable. It’s possible. You can do it while you have another job. If you have the drive, if you have the passion. And if you’ve got just the fortitude to go and fight through it. It’s not easy. It’s tough work takes a lot of time. And it takes a lot of focus and dedication. But I care enough about you and I hope that you can get to the next level in your life and find happiness. That’s what we’re all chasing.
Keegan 8:48
So I appreciate you again. Thank you so much. I hope that you’re staying safe out there with the Coronavirus situation, keep yourself and your family super safe. Take the precautions you need to to stay ultimately in a place where you’re going to be able to do these things where you’re going to be able to drive forward in your life and not be halted by the world around you. Because there’s always something going on. Sometimes worse than others but there will always be something to slow you down. You just can’t let it stop you keep fighting through. Have an amazing day. We’ll see you right back here next week with another episode of the Divi addicts podcast.
