Keegan 1:10
So this week, they’ve they’ve come out with what I think is pretty cool. And I haven’t had the chance to really dig into it yet. But we’ve got Divi sticky options. Really, really cool. You can do sticky options for sections for footers for a ton of different things. It looks interesting. And I’m going to play around with it in some in some projects that I’m doing very soon. But it’s it’s cool, you can stick to the top, you can stick to the bottom, you can stick to both. It just looks. It looks like something we’ve been wanting from Divi for a long time. And there’s a lot of options for third party solutions for using sticky sections or creating sticky sections. But now it’s a built in how Elegant Themes when they do something they do a well, they make sure that the user interface is great. So I’m super, super amped about that one.

But you know something else I really, really have on my heart right now. I’m here in South Louisiana. You know, this podcast is a couple days behind normally we release him on Tuesday, today’s Friday, so we’re full two and a half days behind the normal schedule. And if you’ve watched the news, you know exactly why that is we just had this week. You know, we were on high alert for two hurricanes hurricane Marco and hurricane Laura. Marco, you know, we were very lucky kind of broke up after we passed over the Caribbean over Puerto Rico in the Dominican Republic. But with Laura was a different story, Laura just kept on picking up steam and getting bigger and bigger and bigger as she made landfall. And some good friends of mine, just a just an hour and a half away from where I live. Over in Lake Charles, we’re not super lucky. You know, they definitely went through tons of tornadoes, they got a lot of rain, massive, super high winds. And I say all that not to really give you an update on the news, you already know kind of what’s going on.
Keegan 3:01
But I say that to say, you know, we’ve been very diligent here on the Divi addicts podcast every single Tuesday releasing new episodes. And traditionally, I batch a lot of these episodes. So I’ll create them, set them schedule them inside of anchor, and that’ll kind of be it, you know, around and when I get one or two left in the bank, I’ll go and record some more. Well, this one, there’s a few reasons I wanted to do it, you know, pretty much real time. The first thing is that I think the sticky, the sticky options inside of Divi are huge. They’re worth talking about, and it’s very timely. The second thing is that, you know, we talked about consistency. And if you read anything for, you know, the YouTube influencers, the Instagram influencers and just marketing in general out there, they talk about showing up consistently for your audience. I firmly 1,000% believe that that is absolutely important.
Keegan 3:50
But I think we put a lot of pressure on ourselves to hit those deadlines. And sometimes, you know, life is real. You and I both have things in our life that are unplanned things that that impact us in ways that we just don’t see coming. You know, for me, it’s a natural disaster. I live in Louisiana, and it’s part of what we do is what we grew up in. I’ve lived here born and raised. We know in the fall, there’s no late summer, early fall, it’s hurricane season, that’s just it’s what it is. We’re always on alert, but we also have experienced so many of them that we don’t always take them as seriously as we should. Now this one was a different story. Absolutely taken seriously precautions were taken. You know, a lot of people were evacuated, which was which is awesome, save that save a lot of lives.
Keegan 4:39
But there are things in life that you just can’t prepare for, you know, whether it’s, you know, getting diagnosed with cancer, whether it’s your significant other or your relationship falling apart, you know, a parent passing away or having, you know, a really significant life moment. Those things are real and, you know, the marketing gurus out there talking about utopia. You know, everything being absolutely perfect, but the truth of the matter is no one’s life is always perfect. You and I have things that we have to deal with, right? There are things that that come up. And we just have to pivot. So as much as I want to do these things every single Tuesday, and that’s, that will always be the goal. What I want to talk about here is not beating yourself up, if you set some sort of a goal, or a consistent release schedule for you know, whether it’s a YouTube video or a post on Instagram, or tik tok’s or, or whatever it might be a podcast episode, you know, if you miss it by a day or two, it’s not the end of the world, your whole audience won’t just desert you because of that.
Keegan 5:41
And you shouldn’t let yourself build up a tremendous amount of anxiety around it. Because truth of the matter is, we’re all people and I think we we put a lot of pressure on ourselves, I have been absolutely guilty of that faking, you know, everybody who’s a subscriber to the podcast, or a YouTube subscriber is watching every single video, which I know is not the case, I can look at the analytics and know that’s not the case. And then if I don’t show it for them, exactly, when I say it, if I’m a minute late, it’s like everything is for nothing. That’s not, that’s just not true. We’ve got to give ourselves a little bit of a break, not put so much pressure on ourselves and learn to pivot. You know, pivoting is okay, I’m doing this on a Friday morning here, you know, it’s it’s August the 28th, at 958. In the morning, typically, this would have been recorded a week ago. And that’s okay. You know, I’ve been preparing, trying to make sure my family was safe, trying to make sure my friends were taken care of. And you know, the people who are very close to me, we’re all in a good spot leading into this week with with multiple hurricanes.
Keegan 6:45
So I hope that you out there can appreciate that and can totally connect with what I’m saying right now. Because I know that if you’re sitting on the other end of this microphone, that you’ve dealt with something that has pushed a deadline or a milestone that you were trying to reach, it’s push those back, it’s just human nature, like it’s what’s going to happen in life. So, you know, today again, super, super, super excited about this sticky release, and I will be playing with it now that this hurricane is passed, the life is getting back to normal, I think I’m gonna be able to play around with it for quite a few hours this weekend, and really, maybe even build a layout that goes on to the academy that we talked about earlier in the episode, I would love to do a sticky layout, maybe for a blog and have some things on the side, or maybe a lifter LMS template, I guess is the word I’m trying to say, I could do that and put that on the academy as well.
Keegan 7:42
Yeah, that’s pretty much what I wanted to discuss today. You know, it’s, this is a big announcement. But on the other side, like the real human part of this is that life is gonna throw you curveballs. It’s not about trying to avoid them, because you can’t there they will happen. It’s just the nature of life. But what you can control is how you react to them. And I know I’m getting off into a tangent almost sounding like a like a motivational speaker. But this is this is real, this is true. And I hope you can tell them a voice, how much like I really truly mean this. Not trying to tell you what to do, sharing my experiences. And, you know, some of the things that have helped me get through a little bit more less than ideal times in life is that, you know, you can you can blame other people, you can be mad at external forces. But the truth of the matter is, it’s we’re very small and a much bigger thing. The world is going to happen, nature is going to happen, life is going to happen. Other people are going to influence things that impact our lives. And it’s not a matter of us trying to avoid or, or minimize them. It’s about how we react to those things when they do happen.
Keegan 8:55
And you know, I’m scrolling through my Twitter feed the other day and a guy that is become a very good online friend, I have yet to meet him in real life, but a guy who’s who’s someone I connect with and interact with quite a bit. You know, I said, Every time I get my hopes up, I feel like I’m destined to be let down. And my response to that was, you know, never, never let go of that excitement. Never let go of the opportunity to be let down. Because life, like the real part of life, the things that matter, the memories that are made, the things that you look back on and really appreciate, are the high and the low moments, you know that the struggle times are some of the best times I’ve looked back on, you know, you seem to forget the negatives. And you remember the fact that you push through when other people might have failed and the positive times they’re really really high highs. Those, those are memory moments.
Keegan 9:47
You know, the ones in the middle that every day ho hum that a lot of people try and balance their lives into to where they minimize the peaks and the valleys. Yeah, you know, it creates a more consistent life, but you don’t have it There’s many of those big moments. So my advice to him was, do never, never in a million years let go that never lose the the passion for opening yourself up and being vulnerable, to put yourself out there and experience the highs and take the lows and learn from them. It’s just, it’s just the way life is meant to be left lead. So yeah, that’s enough of that’s enough of me talking and being philosophical today.
Keegan 10:29
Again, taking it all the way back to Divi. Let’s go back and play with this sticky thing if you’ve if you’ve updated the Divi. And if you’ve updated to the latest version of Divi and you’re playing around with sticky options, I would absolutely love to get your feedback on what have you experienced so far? Does it work well, typically, I don’t update to the newest release until they get a point release behind it. So I believe that we’re on 4.6. Right now, if I’m not mistaken. I probably won’t update until 4.6. point one. But I do know that that usually comes fast because Elegant Themes puts out the major release, within 24 hours, they usually have the quick bugs that a lot of people have submitted because they’re listening. And then they put out a point release to squash a bunch of those bugs. So I will probably be updating to that. Well, I’ll definitely be doing it in a test this weekend and playing around with it. But I do want to hear your feedback.
Keegan 11:24
So yeah, I hope you guys and girls have an absolutely awesome weekend. If you’re looking to chill this weekend, after a long week of work, enjoy your time, enjoy the relaxation. And don’t feel bad for one second, that you want to sit on the couch and watch Netflix all day. On the other hand, if you need to make money if you want to grow if you hate your job, if you want to get to the next level of whatever life looks like to you and you want to open some doors, don’t be afraid to put in work this weekend. Make a contact list. Go out there and find people who you aspire to be follow them build a list on Twitter, the unfollow everybody else on Instagram and follow these people. You know, we spend so much time consuming so much content, make sure that the content you’re consuming is stuff that’s going to motivate you and power you not just necessarily the entertaining stuff, but the stuff that’s going to make you change the way you view life for the better come a stronger version of yourself.
Keegan 12:27
So, again, I don’t know I’m feeling a little soft philosophical this week. I hope hope you guys like it. I hope it’s not too much of a doesn’t come off as very preachy, because that’s not my intent at all. I’m just feeling just all up in my fields, I guess this hurricane will make you make you really appreciate things and kind of be very introspective. So again, have an awesome, awesome weekend, whatever, whichever path you’re taking whichever side of the road you’re on this weekend. Enjoy your time. Be in the moment and stay safe. Hug the people that you care about. And you know, in a week, we’ll be back to our regularly scheduled time.
