Hey there, welcome to another episode of Divi Addicts. This week, we’re going into a little bit of a conversation about the visual builder. You know, it’s been, it’s been a while since Divi 3.0 and the launch of the visual builder. And it was one of those that I think people were really, really excited about whenever they saw the previews. And then there’s, there’s people who were in maybe one of two camps, you know, they were, everyone was amped, everyone was excited. And then it came out. And I think people gave it a shot. And there were people who saw the progress or the promise of what this product could be.
Keegan 1:03
You know, I was I was definitely in that camp. I was excited for what this product could be. And honestly, I was I was pretty excited for what it was at that phase two, which admittedly, it had, it had a lot of opportunities, you know, there were there were some opportunities for it to to improve. There was some stability things, there was some compatibility issues for sure. And especially with the thriving third party market, you know, the community that Divi has built, especially with plugin developers, you know, tip add on to the functionality of Divi. The Divi Builder just was not very friendly for that.
Keegan 1:42
And so, you know, there were those two camps, there were the ones who were really excited and saw the potential. And then there were the ones who gave it a shot, and almost immediately went back to the back end builder. And it could be for a number of reasons it could be, you know, it could have been for just the convenience, and the familiarity of the back end builder. pay a lot of people that I talked to our web developers, and they’re rolling through a lot of sites, and they use Divi to build those sites. So their workflow, and that process is it’s critical. You know, the time is, time is money, you’ve heard it a million times. And it’s absolutely true.
Keegan 2:29
It’s so those people gave Divi visual builder a shot, and it slowed them down in their minds. And so a lot of people went back to the back end. Well, the reason I wanted to do this episode and talk about it is that, you know, I’ve listened to a lot of great divvy specific content over the last year. Whether it be WP the podcast, or you know, Devi chat, or things like that, just and just communication and interactions inside the Devi Facebook groups. I think a lot of people were still on the back end. But recently, Devi did that update. And they changed to a new back end experience, which was essentially the the front end builder but the block view that they introduced a few months after they launched the the original Divi Builder with 3.0.
Keegan 3:25
And so the new update, I don’t want to say it forced people to use the visual builder, but it made it a little more easier. And it kinda, it was another one of those moments where people, I think, had the chance to take a look at the visual builder and give it one more shot. And like, again, the reason the reason we wanted to do this episode and talk about the visual builder is because it’s come a long, long way since its initial release. And I really think if you haven’t, if you’ve never given it a shot, or you haven’t given it a shot since Devi 3.0, now’s the time, because they’ve added in the 3.1 was a developer release. There’s a lot of new hooks, there’s all kinds of things, the dynamic content, all those show up in real time, and you can use in the in the visual builder.
Keegan 4:20
And if you’re still on a version of Divi, where you have the classic builder, or you’re not using the new one, you have no way of using these features, the copy and paste the extend styles, the Find and Replace All of these really great features that were added to the program or to the to the theme framework that you just don’t have if you’re still in the classic builder. So my suggestion, and this is just one person’s opinion, is that you should really build a lab build a demo environment, install Divi and try building a simple you know, four or five page website From beginning to end 100% in the visual builder, I think that you’re really going to be blown away. I think that you’re going to be pleasantly surprised. And more than anything, I think you’re going to be shocked at how much time it actually saves you compared to the old builder, the copy, paste the multi select all of those extend styles, find and replace it. It is. It is a huge time saver.
