What’s up everybody? Welcome to the Divi addicts podcast where we’re bringing you the latest news from Divi as well as tips and tricks to take your WordPress website to the next level. What’s up Divi addicts welcome to episode number 44. And this one is a special one. This is the epic battle between A2 Hosting and Flywheel. So first is A2 hosting and it’s one that we love, they got us from, you know, our little infancy stage as an agency up to where we felt we were pretty legit. And A2 has been an awesome partner, they really have done an awesome job. And we will continue to support them and continue to refer business to them because we do believe in the platform.
Keegan 0:51
But today we’re here to talk about the pros and the cons of each one, A2 and Flywheel and ultimately then pick a winner. So stick around so you can find out who that is. But up first, we said we were talking about A2. And there’s some great pros pros to the platform that you’re you’re wide open, you’ve got a C panel in place. And you can do exactly what you need to do. You’ve got full control, whether it’s subdomains add on domains, emails, MX records, all the records, you can use softaculous to install a different CMS, you can do whatever you want. It’s basically like, Hey, I got my own little computer on the web, do what you want with it. And that’s A2 you, you compound that with the fact that they have really good customer service. And you’ve got a really great platform with a lot of customization and controllability.
Keegan 1:46
The bad part is that there’s a lot of controllability. You’ve got tons of options, right, you’ve got all these different things that you can do with your host. And then on top of that deciding which actual hosting package is right for you can be a little bit a little intimidating because there’s a bunch of them. So it’s really, it depends on what you’re trying to do. But A2 is great if you’re just starting off because they do have some plans that are very affordable. And you can get a shared plan. That’s a great starting point. But there’s you know, a lot of caveats. Learn and do your research on shared plans, because you can go down even if it’s not because of your fault. And then there’s a lot of other things you can have dedicated servers and there’s a great package with A2. And we’re gonna leave our link in the bottom the sign up if you do decide to go that route. But we have to pick a winner and we have to give you the pros and the cons. That’s A2. Now it’s time to talk about Flywheel.
Keegan 2:40
So next we’re talking about Flywheel. Flywheel is like the new pretty girl on the block. We’re really excited that she’s here. The courtship is brand new, it’s exciting, and everybody’s like in vain. So A2 has been really, really cool. I’m sorry, not A2. Flywheel has been really, really cool. Because of all the things that we said we really liked about A2 hosting. Flywheel brings a completely different approach. They’re the cool funky, like hipster hosting, and not really hipster hosting. But they’ve got a cool brand, they’ve got a funky brand. And they do what they do. And they focus really hard they niche down. And they’ve got a program and a platform that is very easy to use, very easy to ramp up a website, backs up dailies, their security, there’s caching built into it, and they’ve got a hosting support team. That is literally second to none. I mean, they are phenomenal. They have been so quick to fix issues. And I think that has a lot to do with the fact that they have a very specialized platform.
Keegan 3:44
There’s there’s processes in place for them to fix issues, because they limit the number of issues they can have by limiting what people can do with it, you can go in and you can create a WordPress hosting that is fast that is secure. And you can do everything you need to do inside of the word mint WordPress admin. Anything else though? You’re a bit limited. You can’t manage add ons, you can’t manage multi press except unless you do the add on, which is a little bit more $10 extra a month. But it works amazingly well. And it’s so fast. And it’s just an easy, beautiful dashboard. And I think at a minute and 45 seconds into this particular segment, you know exactly which way we’re leaning. And it is because of the cool brand. It’s because of ease of usability. It’s because of this stellar support team. That it’s pretty easy to find a winner in this one, at least for us in our situation.
Keegan 4:44
So you know what that sound means. And that means that we’re here to announce a winner of the epic battle is over. And at least in our eyes today. This is March 25 2019. The winner here is Flywheel. And it is for the one particular reason its support support is everything to us. But there’s a few things that support it, support that decision. So support a lot support support support, there’s a few things that support that decision to make Flywheel the winner and it is their support team, the ease of use coolness of their brand, security speed, and a program or a product they have called Local. What we did not have with A2 was a way to do Local Development and push it directly into the server with ease. And not that it wasn’t possible, but it wasn’t super easy. Flywheel connects directly into the local product, you can pull and push websites from local to live from live to local. And you can do that as much as you want. It’s a free product. So you can start and ramp up a site locally and then push it into one of your bulk plans or into a new site on the local surrounding the Flywheel server. That itself is freakin amazing. And that’s why Flywheel wins today.
