In this episode we rant a little bit. We talk about the theme builder that’s been coming to Divi for over a year. We also discuss how much we enjoy Divi Addicts and where we are headed.
Keegan 0:00
What’s up Divi Addicts? Episode Number 50 is here milestone episode. Without further ado, let’s jump right in.
Keegan 0:30
So we’re here, Episode Number 50. You already know what it’s about. We’re here, and we’re back for the attics. And unfortunately, we have to shift gears. We got to pull back we got to slow down a little bit. Because this episode isn’t like the rest. The rest of the episodes have been so positive. They’ve been so uplifting. They’ve been so pro Elegant Themes. Unfortunately, this episode is going to have a different tone. This episode is going to be a little bit different.
Keegan 1:02
12 months ago, 12 months ago, Elegant Themes jumped on their blog, and they dropped a brand new blog, which included a video on YouTube that was all about the theme builder was a sneak peek saying you guys are gonna get this. This upcoming feature. The theme builders coming to you. I’m not gonna say they lied. They didn’t lie. It is coming. It’s working. I know what’s gonna happen. I know it. I trust that it’s gonna happen. But you cannot, as a brand promise something like that. And 12 months later not deliver on it. Elegant Themes. I love you Divi theme, I love you. I do. But you got to help me out here. I need your support. I need you to put out a statement and say, we know 12 months ago,
Keegan 2:06
Hey guys, give you a little adult language here. So if here’s the here’s the warning, if you don’t like cursing, please stop the podcast. Now. We’ve kind of done the 5, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1
Keegan 2:25
All right, you’ve been warned. It’s wide open from here on out. This episode will be a little different. Elegant Themes. Here’s a rant. Elegant Themes. 12 months is bullshit. If you if you don’t plan on delivering what you need to deliver on within a reasonable amount of time, which is far less than a year. Please don’t let us know. It’s like a carrot. You drive in sales, I get it your business, drive those sales, make your money. But do not make those mistakes. You’re going to alienate the people who have developed plugins for your for your theme. People who have committed to your theme, you’re going to piss them off. You’re going to make them angry and you’re gonna make them go somewhere else. You’re going to make them go to a competitor who is delivering on the things that you’re not, but you’re promising that you’re going to.
Keegan 3:22
I’ve seen it in the in the Facebook groups. Not that long ago. Nick Roach himself and Nick. Tremendous amount of respect for you. I do and this is not a slam at you. Please do not take it that way. I love Divi. I love Divi love Elegant Themes. I love everything that you guys do. Nick Roach. Massive respect for you, man. Massive. You have the guts to go out there and build a company like Elegant Themes. You hit it hard with Divi. You had a win. Man, I’m only doing this because I love you and I want to see you succeed and take it to a whole nother level. I want to see you dominate WordPress because what you have is the best product. There’s no question.
Keegan 4:19
Please look at the layout packs. Look at the twice a week tutorials and cut that shit out. Exit Stop it, develop everything you can to put all of those resources towards delivering the theme builder. It’s what everybody wants. Because you said you were going to do it and it’s not here. So put those resources in place to deliver on everything you said you are going to deliver. Please I’m begging you. deliver on it. That in itself will keep ever Who loves to be super happy. And again, I just I do want to reiterate the fact that this is not. This is not me putting Elegant Themes down. I love Elegant Themes. This is not me putting Divi down I love Divi I still use Divi, every single project. Everyone was outfit. Without fail, there will not be a project that I build that isn’t on Divi.
Keegan 5:31
Unless the unless the client requests something else, you know, then it is what it is. But my projects will always start with Divi, there will be built around Divi, they will use Divi and they will 100% operate on that platform because I truly believe it’s the best. This is just this is my plea to you at Elegant Themes specifically to you Nick Roach, I understand. We had Gutenberg, there’s a lot of reasons why the theme builder couldn’t come out. I totally understand. I really, truly 100% do. But the people who are dedicated the people who are buying into your product that people were paying every year, whether it’s 80 bucks, 89 bucks, whatever the yearly fee is, or if it’s somebody who signed up for a lifetime subscription like myself, we committed to you, we committed to Divi.
Keegan 6:26
And you put something out that said we were going to do something that you’re not doing some of those other sneak peeks we’re, we’re doing this and boom, next week, here it is. We’re doing this three weeks now from then boom, we’re doing this. It’s live, go update, theme builder, still waiting, waiting 12 months, and we’re in the same month. It was May 2018. When the video came out. I see it in the comments. It’s what everybody’s pushing for. It’s what everybody wants, we need to see it delivered. We need that push as a community. That’s going to be a day when everybody rejoices. Everybody sings the praises of Divi. And I know I’m not saying anything that anyone on the Elegant Themes team doesn’t already know. But I’m saying it to you. I’m saying it to you, the people who listen to Divi Addicts, to you, the business owner, to you, the agency owner who is committed to doing I know it’s coming. It’s just a matter of when.
Keegan 7:30
And it’s also more importantly, a matter of whether or not you can wait. And if you have products that demand exactly what you need that Divi hasn’t delivered yet. That is the moment of truth. It’s the moment when you have to decide, do I do the extra work to try and figure it out with the platform I’m already involved in? Or do I make the move to another platform? I can’t answer that for you. We can talk about it. And I’d love to talk about it. If you jump over to Twitter, follow us, Keegan Lanier media asked us questions, start up a conversation and let’s chat. I would love that. But I can’t make that call for you.
Keegan 8:09
That’s a call that you have to make as a business owner and find out what is best for you. And any, I’m promise you, any web developer, WordPress person, whatever you want to call them, anybody who builds websites for a client, who says, I have the perfect solution for you before they ever get to know their client is a con artist. They’re lying. And they don’t care about what the end goal is. So you have to ask, maybe Divi is not the right platform for your customer in its current state. And maybe whenever they put the theme builder out it is I don’t know. I know that I love it. I know that I’m going to continue to use it, I know that my website will continue to be built on it. I just hope that we can take it to the next level.
Keegan 9:02
So that’s an eight and a half minute rant about my love and what I’m asking elegant themes to do. And it’s really just commit and finish what you started. You started a year ago, deliver the product, deliver the update that you said you were going to do it so that the people who love you and support you can continue to love and support you 100% without question and not give the haters any fuel to fight. So that’s it. This is a long episode. This is a long rant. I know it and I apologize, but it is what it is. This is what I wanted to talk about.
Keegan 9:49
