8: Divi Rollback Feature
Today we talk about Divi rollback! If you have ever updated WordPress and wished you could step back, Divi is helping make that happen, at least for the your theme!
What’s up Divi addicts and welcome to today’s podcast. We’re super excited to welcome you to episode number eight. We’re getting on our stride now we’re really starting to hit the ground running, which is exciting. Pretty soon we’ll be at Episode 10, which is unbelievably hard to believe. But we’re super amped for it. So today we’re talking about a feature, we’re talking about something in Divi. That’s not the newest part of the Visual Builder. It’s not a major point release. It’s not even really a new feature at all. But it’s something I think is is going to bring tremendous value to the Divi nation. It’s going to bring tremendous value to you and your business. So without further ado, let’s jump right in.
So Divi just released Divi 3.6 with 3.6, they got this brand new piece of the puzzle called Divi Roll Back. And it’s it is really really cool, right? How come nobody else is doing this in the space? If they are hit me up and let me know because I just haven’t seen it. So we’re gonna start from the beginning. And if you’ve done any development with Divi, you know, they are aggressive with their releases, pretty much every week you can find a brand new version updated of Divi, you know, whether it’s introducing some small tweaks in the Visual Builder, new settings, the filters, new color picker, there’s a lot of new things that are coming at us pretty fast and furious when it comes to Divi.
So one thing that I’ve noticed in the community, you know, full disclosure, is that a lot of people have issues each week, you know, with when you have as big of a user basis they do. It makes sense, right? It makes sense that somebody is somewhere along the way is going to run into some sort of issue. And it definitely happens. And it could be a lot of different reasons. Most of them aren’t Elegant Themes fault, a lot of times it’s the host, they can’t test everything but they do, in my opinion an awesome job I paid for a pretty good hosting. Shout out to A2 hosting. And I think that Divi is very compatible and runs really well most of the updates I run with with zero problems.
So one thing that they just rolled out was this rollback feature. So with Divi 3.6, and any incremental update moving forward, you’ll be able to roll back. Now the key to remember here is that if you’re upgrading the Divi 3.6, you cannot roll back to a 3.5 release of any kind, I guess the framework, the underlying guts, they don’t operate with Divi 3.5. So that’s the one you won’t be able to roll back to but 3.6 lays the foundation and 3.61 you’ll be able to roll back to 3.6 and anything moving forward. So you know if you’re in WordPress, you go into the Divi Theme Options. Go to the updates tab and just below where your username and your API key would be there’s a new button that says rollback. And that’s where it’s going to lie. And this is great.
So if you update the newest Divi and for some reason things don’t work out. You don’t have to keep different versions or you don’t have to you know you don’t have to stress so hard if you got busy and didn’t make your backup like you should caveat here huge PSA is please backup your sites. It’s huge and massive shout out to manage WP.com those guys keep us backed up and running well. So that’s the feature. That’s the new release. And it is awesome. I’m so excited for it. I think it’s going to be a game changer again.
So we really, really hope that you’ve enjoyed this episode, or hope you’re excited about the new rollback features coming to Divi. I think it’s going to be very cool. I think it’s going to bring a ton of value to people who are designing inside of Divi. And you know if you if you ever have any questions about Divi if you’re concerned with, with with how you can properly streamline your business, or if you’re interested in just jumping into this for the very first time, and you know you’ve made websites and you’ve done a few different things, but you’re really interested in Divi, feel free to connect with us, you know, say hi on twitter at Keegan elmedia are coming DMS on Instagram or send us a message on Facebook at Keegan Lanier Media.
