In this episode we talk about how failure can help push you ahead in life.

The title of today’s episode is one that might confuse a few of you. It sounds contrary to what most people believe in definitely what you’re taught along the way. failures are usually seen as an end. You know, in some cases they are but usually they bring the best lessons that we could ever learn. So today’s societal landscape is one that focuses on glamour and success, you can just look no farther than Instagram as a perfect example. People curate their highlight reel. This gives us all a false sense of what the people we follow actually do on a daily basis. People rent boats, planes and houses just to look successful to a bunch of people that they don’t even know.
Keegan 1:05
You know, our social feeds are thoughtfully curated slideshow of our highlights of our life. For example, you know, I traveled a lot to finish up 2019 I spent over 35 days of the last few weeks of the year in a hotel, I took more than 12 flights in the last three weeks. And if you look at my ID stories, or if you follow me there you would have seen you know, awesome food pics, cool pictures from playing windows in different cities from Montgomery, Alabama, Birmingham, Alabama, Lubbock, Texas, Dallas, Denver, New Orleans, Baton Rouge. And the truth behind this highlight reel involves the fact that I missed holiday parties. I was working multiple weeks without a day off, and there were Miss flights, there were more Ubers. And I care to count there was time away from my family.

But that’s ultimately the life I choose and the love and the love. And and I really love my work, I should say, in 2019. I set out to make it the biggest year I’d had with Keegan Lanier Media specifically, my sales goal was $76,800 60,000 of that was going to be from web development subscriptions, and another 16,800 from website maintenance clients. Based on that goal 2019 was a huge, monstrous epic failure of the year, I ended the year with somewhere in the ballpark of 20,000 in total top line revenue. Definitely not bad for a side hustle. But I planned on launching a course in 2019 also, but that didn’t happen either.

So there have been a ton of failures this year. But they’ve all made me stronger. I was able to sharpen my skills, and worked on operational efficiencies to help make my workflows more efficient. Now you can check out episodes 509 511 and 513. For a few recent episodes, talking about how I implemented some of those efficiencies. You know, ultimately, mindset is the key to success in life. Failure is a word that confuses many, many people.
Keegan 3:07
But failure isn’t about losing. It’s about learning. Our minds can sometimes keep us from moving forward because we worry about what other people will think the truth is they fail to we all fail in life and in business, we make mistakes that we think are impossible to come back from. The truth is as long as you wake up and keep on breathing, you can come back. You know that said it’s it’s not easy to get back up from failure. Some failures are small, and it’s easy to bounce back. Other major failures that take time and hard work to come back from.
Keegan 3:41
Either way, you can work your face off and make your way back from almost any failure you face in life if your mind is strong and confident.
